Dr. Jonas Dora currently works as an Acting Assistant Professor at the University of Washington in Seattle. In 2027, he will join the Department of Psychology, where he will carry out his ERC Starting Grant-funded research project, CODED (Cross-Context Computational Models of Emotional Decision-Making in Alcohol Use). In this project, he investigates why people often drink less alcohol in everyday life when under stress or experiencing negative emotions—even though laboratory studies show the opposite effect. Dora combines experiments and real-life studies with computer-based decision-making models. The goal is to better understand how emotions influence decisions about alcohol consumption and what mechanisms underlie the development of addiction. In the long term, these findings could contribute to more targeted approaches in prevention and treatment.
Further information on the research project can be found in the announcement in the LMU Newsroom.
